Free NTFS for Mac: the NTFSTool free edition

The free edition reads and writes NTFS drives on macOS 15.6 or later. It is on the Mac App Store, reviewed by Apple, and uses no kernel extension.

When is Pro worth it?

The free edition answers "can my Mac write to this drive?". Pro is for when you don't want to think about it again: no setup, older macOS versions, one-click repair when Windows leaves a drive dirty, disk health, and a person who answers your email.

Is the free edition really free?

Yes. No trial period and no ads. Read and write are not limited.

Why does the free edition need macOS 15.6 or later?

It uses Apple's newer file system extension framework, which is only available from macOS 15.6. On older Macs, NTFSTool Pro works from macOS 12, and the classic version covers macOS 10.15–11.

Can I try Pro before paying?

Yes. Pro gives you 3 free mounts on your own drive. You pay only after it works, and you have 45 days to ask for a refund.
